15 Ways To Revitalize Your Health

15 Ways To Revitalize Your Health
15 Ways To Revitalize Your Health

Happy Friday!

I hope you had the best Memorial Day Weekend! And week. Mine was relaxing, but it still somehow managed to really wear me out. It’s funny how a weekend of being around a lot of people can drain you just as much as a weekend of being really active. (Introverts rule by the way.) Since I’ve been feeling a little run-down this week, I thought it would be a good time to share some tips that I’ve found to be very helpful when my body needs to revitalize. They are great things to incorporate into your everyday life, but especially useful for when you have been getting too little sleep, eating unhealthy, drinking, etc.

15 Ways To Revitalize Your Health

Replace a meal with green juice.

It helps rev your digestion, detox, balance your blood sugar, and helps your body with nutrient absorption. As an addition, consuming water with lemon first thing in the morning alkalizes and detoxes your body and makes way for stronger digestion throughout your day. Make sure there’s no fruit juice in it and preferably have it for breakfast.

Take a break from coffee or stick to just 1 cup.

Coffee is amazing, but it’s a very strong stimulant. When your body is already tired, giving it stimulants will actually drain your adrenals making you more tired later. In other words, coffee isn’t a drink that just magically gives you energy. It stimulates your adrenals to produce adrenaline which gives you energy. Over time your adrenals can drain and you can develop adrenal fatigue. Try other energy boosters instead like green juices, green superfood powders, licorice root extract, green tea, or reishi. (Or a good old nap!)

Eat at home and eat clean.

Take some time at the beginning of the week to look-up healthy recipes, meal plan, write out ingredients, and go grocery shopping. You will feel so much better and it saves money, too!

Stuff in the greens.

Salad, smoothies, green juice, superfood powders, raw veggies, soups—get them in at every meal! It’s really easy to do when you throw in handfuls of spinach or kale to a smoothie, make a green juice or soup, or eat a salad before your meal.

Take your supplements.

Rely on fruits and vegetables first, supplements second. Supplements are kind of like safety blankets; they’re there for you when you aren’t getting enough of a certain nutrient or if you’re deficient. Everyday I have a superfood green juice, a plant-based multivitamin with spirulina, vitamin D & K, B-12, probiotic/prebiotic/enzyme supplements, methylfolate, dandelion root, pantothenic acid, and vitamin C. It may sound like quite a bit, but it only takes about a minute out of my day to fit them in and they help keep my body balanced.

Try dandelion root.

It detoxes your kidneys, which is especially helpful if you’ve been drinking or eating unhealthy. It has a natural diuretic effect which helps the body rid itself of excess water retention. You can take it in pill or tea form and aim for about 1-1.5 grams a day for full benefits.

Practice yoga.

It pumps your lymphatic system, which helps rid your body of toxins, increases oxygen flow, and revitalizes your adrenals which helps lower stress. Plus it feels amaaaazing.

Get at least 15 minutes of sun everyday.

Did you know Vitamin D is actually a hormone that our body produces when we are in the sun? It nourishes your endocrine system, which will help bring balance back to your body and boost your serotonin (happy hormone) levels.

Use essential oils.

Diffusing lavender essential oil not only lowers stress levels, but helps your body produce its most powerful antioxidants that protect your cells from cancer causing free radicals.

lavender plants

Consume probiotics, prebiotics, and enzymes.

These days there’s a lack of nutrition in our soil and food, we have a toxic environment, and our lifestyles are more stressful than ever. We need these digestive boosts at every meal, everyday. When your digestion is functioning optimally, you will have more vitality, healthier skin, and a balanced mood. Plus haven’t you heard that our guts are our second brains? For food sources, you can find probiotics in fermented foods, prebiotics in beans, and enzymes in pineapple.

I take a combination of all 3 (probiotics, prebiotics, and enzymes) all in one pill and I love it! My digestion has seriously improved, along with my skin, and my energy level as well. Plus it’s easier and saves more money than taking 3 different pills constantly. If you’re interested you can check it out here

Practice dry brushing your skin.

It greatly aids in lymphatic flow, blood circulation, detoxifying, and exfoliation to give you more energy and more radiant skin.

Listen to music that’s nostalgic or sparks joy.

It can be hard to bounce back to work after a fun weekend, but listening to music that really speaks to you gives your brain a boost by raising serotonin and dopamine levels.

Don’t be afraid to say no.

It seems so simple and easy, but it’s not right?! It takes a lot of effort to say no to people or fun events, but sometimes you know it will be more beneficial to yourself in the long run to just stay home. Rest, read a book, spend time with family, cook a healthy meal, journal, prepare for the next day, watch a documentary, go to bed early, etc.

read home relax

Get lots of sleep and don’t skip out on naps.

The saying usually goes: “sleep is for the weak, coffee is for the strong.” But if you care about your health, you know that it’s actually the other way around. Sleep is your chance to regenerate everything from your brain to your toes, so take advantage. If you can’t sleep then find a natural sleep aid that works for you and take it on the nights you need it. Valerian root, magnesium, and melatonin are an amazing combination for restless nights.

Drink enough water.

It aids in digestion, nutrient circulation, and helps keep you energized. To figure out how much water you need, divide your body weight in half and that number is about how many ounces of water you should drink in a day. Get a big glass water bottle and keep it by your side all day.
